You may have noticed that your New Tab page has changed. All of the features that you’ve come to know and love are still in this new version of Chrome, but we’ve made searching easier.

 Search

Start typing your search query into the search box and you'll see your query appear in the omnibox. You can also enter a URL to navigate to a webpage.

Did you know you can also search directly from the omnibox?

Your default search provider has the option to customize the New Tab page. If Google is your default search provider, you'll see a logo and search box like on www.google.com. If your default search provider isn't Google you may see a different layout on the New Tab page.

 Most visited

Thumbnails of the websites you visit frequently appear under the search box. Simply click a thumbnail to visit the site.

To remove a most visited site, hover your mouse over the thumbnail, and click the X icon in the upper right corner of the thumbnail.

 Apps

Windows, Mac, and Linux

Icons for the apps you’ve installed from the Chrome Web Store are accessible by clicking the Apps bookmark in the bookmarks bar. Once you're on the Chrome Apps page just click an icon to open the app. If you don't see the Apps bookmark, right-click on the bookmarks bar and click Show Apps Shortcut.

If you've installed apps in Google Chrome on another computer, you can Sign in to Chrome and enable sync to automatically add those apps to the Chrome Apps page on the computer you're using.

To change how an app should be opened, right-click the app icon and select "Open as a regular tab", "Open as a pinned tab", "Open as window", or "Open in full screen". For additional settings, right-click the app and select "Options".

To uninstall an app from Chrome, right-click the app and select Remove from Chrome.

Chromebooks

Icons for the apps you've installed from the Chrome Web Store are accessible by clicking the launcher .

 Bookmarks bar

Your favorite webpages are displayed at the top of the New Tab page by default.

 Reopen a recently closed tab

If you've accidentally closed a tab and need to get it back quickly, use the keyboard shortcut Crtl+Shift+T (Mac: ⌘-Shift-T) or follow these steps:

1. Click the Chrome menu  on the browser toolbar.
2. Select Recent Tabs.
3. Select the desired tab from the list under "Recently closed".

Repeat these steps to retrieve more recently closed tabs.

If you're signed in to Chrome, you can access all of your history and open tabs from your other devices that are signed into Chrome by clicking Recent Tabs > More.
