Search the web on Chrome
You can find what you’re looking for faster by entering search words right in the address bar at the top of the Chrome window.
How searching in the address bar works
When you start typing in the address bar, Chrome will show you suggested phrases or URLs. If you’re on a computer, you might also see icons after the suggestions:
Icon | Description |
---|---|
Your bookmarked sites | |
Popular searches that contain the words you're typing | |
Sites from your browsing history |
Once you click on a suggestion, Chrome opens that page for you.
Note: When you have Google set as your default search engine, Google will also look at other words on the page to give you the most relevant search results.
